Game design involves a process of ideation, planning, problem decomposition, functional modeling, synthesizing and testing. Students will be trained to think creatively and logically while designing their games. These skills can be applied in a wide variety of fields that involve problem solving and innovations. Instead of being a passive consumer of games, we empower these children to be creators.
Kodu can be programmed entirely by icons-based code blocks. Programs are composed of pages, which are broken down into rules that consist of conditions and actions. The Kodu environment is designed specifically for game development and it can express advanced game concepts in a simple and intuitive manner.
Students will leave this workshop with 3 fully functional games in Kodu. Through the game making journey, they will apply concepts such as conditionals, state machines, and sequential programs. One of the projects will be a pair programming exercise which aims to develop their ability to work as a team.
